2024 CIO Awards Canada announces the best in IT technology

IDC has announced 30 winners for its 2024 CIO Awards Canada, in partnership with Foundry’s CIO. The awards select the best innovations in the IT technology sector by Canadian companies annually. In an interaction with The Tech Factor, Allice Shandler, Events Director, IDC Canada, shared more details.

International Data Corporation (IDC) Canada has announced the 2024 CIO Awards Canada winners. The awards select the most innovative Canadian IT technology projects and teams on an annual basis. The current year is the third iteration of the program overall and IDC co-produces it jointly with Foundry’s CIO.

The CIO Awards Canada searches for businesses and teams that have utilized IT technology creatively to provide value to their businesses. In particular, this could include building competitive moats, stream-lining operations, promoting growth, or strengthening customer ties. Shandler told The Tech Factor that in order to qualify, Canadian teams or businesses must exhibit project excellence in two key areas. Firstly, a degree of technology innovation in the usage of IT technology or new methods of doing business internally or externally. Secondly, a strong measurable and quantifiable influence of the project on the financial outcomes of the company.

Shandler added that the program continues to gain popularity and is becoming a standard of excellence for Canadian IT teams.

2024 CIO Awards Canada chooses 30 enterprise winners

The first CIO Awards Canada was held in 2022, and was presented virtually to celebrate 17 winning companies. In 2023, IDC had a virtual conference and also an in-person gala celebrating 20 winning companies. For 2024, Shandler highlighted that they had chosen 30 winning companies. In September, an in-person celebration in Toronto will bring together the winners with industry executives. Lee Rennick, Executive Director, CIO Communities at CIO Online, is expected to host the event.

A group of reviewers comprised of IDC Analysts, Executives and CIO Editors chose the winners, said Shandler. To be sure, there is no category-wise breakdown and IDC scored all the projects submitted on innovation and business value. At present, IDC isn’t sharing the project details of the winners for confidentiality reasons, and is only revealing their names. The company projects receive the awards as a whole rather than individuals. Therefore, project teams collectively have this honour, as a symbol of enterprise excellence.
