Editorial Policy

Last updated: [January 15, 2026]

1. Our Editorial Mission

The Tech Factor is an independent technology publication focused on startups, venture capital, and technology markets, with a primary emphasis on Canada and cross-border developments. Our goal is to provide clear, experience-led analysis that helps founders, operators, and investors understand how technology businesses are built, funded, and scaled in real markets. We prioritise insight, context, and accuracy over speed or sensationalism.

2. Editorial Independence

All editorial content published by The Tech Factor is produced independently.

  • We do not accept payment in exchange for editorial coverage.
  • Sponsored content, if published, is clearly labelled as such.
  • Advertising relationships do not influence editorial decisions, framing, or conclusions.

Editorial judgment rests solely with The Tech Factor’s editorial team.

3. Authorship and Bylines

The Tech Factor publishes content under a mix of individual journalist bylines and editorial bylines.

Editorial Bylines

Some analysis, opinion, and research articles are published under editorial bylines such as TTF Editorial, TTF Research & Insights, or TTF Staff. These bylines represent the collective work, review, and judgment of The Tech Factor newsroom, rather than the perspective of a single named individual.

Editorial bylines are used to:

  • Maintain a consistent institutional voice
  • Protect contributor anonymity where appropriate
  • Reflect collaborative reporting and analysis

They are not intended to imply a specific individual or personal credential.

Individual Bylines

News reporting, features, and selected opinion pieces may carry individual journalist bylines. These reflect the primary author of the article, while still adhering to The Tech Factor’s editorial standards and oversight.

4. Sources, Attribution, and Quotes

We aim to be transparent and accurate in how information is sourced and presented.

  • Facts, data, and third-party research are attributed to their original sources.
  • Quotes may be attributed by name, role, or anonymised where context or sensitivity requires it.
  • Anonymous or unattributed quotes are used sparingly and only when they add substantive insight.

Quotes are included to support analysis, not replace it.

5. Funding News and Company Announcements

Coverage of funding rounds, product launches, and company announcements is based on publicly available information, company disclosures, and additional editorial inquiry where appropriate. Inclusion of a company does not imply endorsement.

6. Corrections and Updates

We take accuracy seriously. If a factual error is identified:

  • Corrections are made promptly
  • Material updates are noted where appropriate

Readers may contact the editorial team to flag potential errors or clarifications.

7. Conflicts of Interest

The Tech Factor seeks to avoid conflicts of interest that could compromise editorial integrity. Where potential conflicts exist, they are managed internally and disclosed when relevant.

8. Contact
