Platformatic, a novel backend development tool for developers and enterprises, has secured US$3.5 million in seed funding.

Headquartered in San Francisco with an office in Vancouver, co-founders CEO Luca Maraschi and CTO Matteo Collina lead Platformatic. Previously, they contributed to the creation of Fastify, a popular web framework in the Node.js ecosystem. Platformatic adds enterprise-level solutions, managed services, and specialized support to Fastify, expanding its functionalities.

Palo Alto-based Decibel led the funding round, while Canada’s Panache Ventures and several notable figures from the open-source tech community participated. They include GitHub founder Tom Preston-Werner, Socket CEO Feross Aboukhadijeh, Node.js contributor James Snell, and others.

According to the company, the funds from this round will help in expanding Platformatic’s platform, growing its team, and also promoting Fastify as the leading web framework for Node.js development.

Node.js, an open-source server environment, allows developers to create frontend and backend applications using JavaScript. Fastify, has over 4 million downloads per month and is a popular web framework within this ecosystem. It serves companies such as Capital One, Walmart, and American Express.

Platformatic offers a comprehensive solution that enhances the developer experience and provides peace of mind to enterprises. It achieves this by especially reducing dependency risks and deployment costs.

Founded in 2022, Platformatic is an innovative backend development platform that empowers businesses to build and deploy microservices-based architecture effortlessly.
